The Mega Millions jackpot has been halted after a false number was dialled.

Our sincere condolences for any uncertainty that may have been caused.'

An error by the presenter of the Mega Millions drawing earlier this week has halted prize distributions for the time being.

In a statement, lottery officials said that "on May 10, 2022, the host of the Mega Millions drawing erroneously pronounced the Mega Ball a 6 instead of a 9".

As a consequence of this draw, the official winning numbers for Tuesday's prize – which has yet to be claimed

are: "balls 15, 19, 20, 61, and 70, plus the gold Mega Ball 9," according to a statement from the company.

The statement concluded, "We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

"All Mega Millions prize payments have been temporarily suspended," according to the New York Lottery, following the blunder. "All Mega Millions players should hang on to their tickets until the matter is fixed," it added.
