A bone bruise in Ja Morant's right knee was discovered following an MRI and further investigation, and the Memphis All-Star guard is out for the rest of the NBA playoffs.

Averaging 38.3 points per game in the Grizzlies' Western Conference semifinal matchup with Golden State, the NBA's most improved player

However, he sat out Game 4 due to a painful knee, as the team stated at the time.

Morant suffered a knee injury during the Grizzlies' 142-112 Game 3 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

There were 6:19 remaining in the game when Poole grabbed at the knee of Morant, who stated it was an attempt to steal the ball. Morant limped off the court.

To follow up on the play, Morant tweeted a video of it with the words "broke the code," a reference that Warriors coach Steve Kerr had used five days earlier to describe Dillon Brooks' hard foul that knocked Gary Payton II out of Game 2.

Due to a positive COVID-19 test, Kerr was placed under the league's health and safety guidelines and missed Game 4.
